F436 washers, also known as high tensile washers, are specialized washers designed for use in applications that require high strength and load-bearing capabilities. These washers are commonly used in structural and heavy-duty construction projects where the integrity and reliability of the fastening system are crucial.
The size range of F436 washers is 1/4" to 4", which means they can accommodate fasteners with diameters ranging from 1/4 inch to 4 inches. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from small-scale projects to large-scale industrial applications.
F436 washers are available in two different finishes: plain and Dacromet. Plain F436 washers are uncoated and have a natural steel finish. They provide good strength and durability but offer limited corrosion resistance. If the application is exposed to moisture or corrosive environments, such as outdoor or marine environments, plain F436 washers may require additional protection, such as regular maintenance or the use of corrosion inhibitors.
On the other hand, Dacromet-coated F436 washers have a thin, protective coating of Dacromet applied to their surface. Dacromet is a chrome-free, water-based coating that provides excellent corrosion resistance. It forms a sacrificial barrier that protects the washer from rust and other forms of corrosion, even in harsh environments. Dacromet-coated F436 washers are commonly used in outdoor applications, coastal areas, or anywhere that demands enhanced corrosion protection.
When choosing between plain and Dacromet-coated F436 washers, consider the environmental conditions and the level of corrosion resistance required for your specific application. If corrosion resistance is a concern, Dacromet-coated F436 washers offer superior protection and extended service life.
